ChemDraw is a versatile and powerful chemical structure editor and diagrammer. It can be used for chemical and biochemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, pharmacology, materials science and many other disciplines of science. ChemDraw contains features such as 3D structure drawing. Math functions such as plotting of partial differential equations (PDEs), molecular orbital (MO) diagrams, Hessians of second-order PDEs (Hessian PDEs), etc. are also included. ChemDraw 12 has the ability to draw stereochemistry (chirality). ChemDraw is used in many industries, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry and chemical engineering. It is available for Microsoft Windows and macOS. Chemical structures can be imported from many common software packages such as BabelPro, BioOffice Molecular Sciences Software Suite (BOSS), ChemBioDraw Ultra 12, Chemsketch or ChemWindow. Several versions exist: a free trial version with limited functionality and a commercial version with a larger set of features. A boxed version of a commercial release of ChemDraw has been available since 1994 from the CambridgeSoft Corporation. ChemDraw's development began in 1984, with version 1.0 released in December of that year. It was originally developed for the Apple Macintosh computer. ChemDraw has been ported to Microsoft Windows, where it was first released in 1993, and with the release of version 11 it has also become available on macOS. Initially developed by Symyx Technologies Inc., until it was acquired by CambridgeSoft Corp. late in 1992, late 2011 saw the acquisition of CambridgeSoft by Molecular Devices Corporation (MDC). However, as confirmed by MDC on its website, the sale did not include Chemistry Development's intellectual property rights to ChemDraw or its associated business operations. ChemDraw 12.1 for Windows runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10; with compatible versions released for macOS in 2010. A free demo version exists with some functionality removed. The software is subject to a license agreement that allows use only when the terms are accepted by the user. ChemSoftPC Review ChemDraw's 64-Bit Version is Here!
